The Secretary of State is charged with the responsibility of appointing notaries by the provision of NRS Chapter 240. At this time, there are more than 25,000 notaries public actively serving the people of Nevada. Notaries provide services ranging from taking acknowledgments, executing jurats, administering oaths, to certifying copies. They serve in law firms, title companies, banks, government offices, and many other private businesses.
Application and Requirements
Applications to apply to be a Notary Public are available from the County Clerk/Treasurer’s Office or online from the Secretary of State’s Office with instructions as to how to proceed.
A bond must be purchased from any bonding company and then filed with the County Clerk/Treasurer’s Office.
Fees
The fee to file a Notary Bond is $20.00. We will then give a filing notice to the applicant to send back to the Secretary of State with their application.
