Lyon County Human Services offers parenting classes in the communities of Dayton, Fernley, Silver Springs, and Yerington.

Loving Solutions


The Loving Solution is a 10-week program designed specifically for parents raising difficult children, ages 5-10 years. This program utilizes the same principles found successful in Parent Project, adapted to the needs of younger children. 
 
 Topics Include:


  • Parenting the Strong-willed Child
  • Parental Influence
  • Encouraging Positive Choices
  • Redirecting Negative Choices
  • Structuring for Success
  • Improving School Performance
  • Concrete Solutions
  • Sleep, Diet and Behavior
  • Problem Solving

Parent Project

The Parent Project is a 10 week program specifically designed for parents with strong-willed or out-of-control children ages 12 and up.

 Parents struggling with:

  • Alcohol and other drug use

  • Poor school attendance and performance

  • Family conflict

  • Violent behaviors

  • Sexual acting out such as “sexting”

  • Criminal behavior

  • Social media addiction

  • Suicide threats and attempts

  • Running away

The curriculum is straight forward, and follows a step-by-step action plan which allows parents to take immediate steps in the intervention process.

Please note, registrations will not be accepted after 3 weeks into the course.
