BASIC INFORMATION
Core Programs
Clubs provide diverse activities that meet the interests of all youth. Core programs engage young people in activities with adults, peers and family members that enable them to develop self-esteem and to reach their full potential. Based on Physical, Emotional, Cultural and Social needs and interest of girls and boys, and recognition developmental principals, Clubs offer program activities in five areas.
Character and Leadership Development
Empowers youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain, meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process and respect their own and others' cultural identities.
Education and Career Development
Enables youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines apply learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.
Health and Life Skills
Develops young people's capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nature their own well being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
The Arts
Enables youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciate of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing.
Sports, Fitness, and Recreation
Develops fitness, Positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment and social skills.

Fernley
Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows
The Boys & Girls Club of Fernley started when the town’s existing after-school program was closed in 2010 due to a cut in county funding. The idea of opening a Boys & Girls Club had been considered for years, but now it was time to make it a reality…and the community responded.
During the school year, the Club run’s youth morning and afternoon programming at Fernley Intermediate School, Cottonwood ES, and East Valley ES with a lunch & after school teen program at Silverland MS. The morning programs will start at 6 a.m. until school starts each weekday, while the elementary and teen programs will run from release until 6 p.m. each weekday. Fees are $4 for morning and $4 for afternoons during the school year for elementary and intermediate students, and free for middle and high school students. Annual Club memberships are $20, and scholarships/financial assistance is also available on an as-needed basis.
