The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) consists of a five-member board. Three members of the Commission are appointed by the Lyon County Board of Commissioners, with one each being appointed by the City of Fernley and the City of Yerington.

Meetings are held once per fiscal year and as called.

The RTC oversees the spending of a nine-cent fuel tax, which is allocated to each city and to Lyon County based on assessed valuation. The RTC also oversees road construction taxes collected in and spent in each city.
