[ARCHIVED] County Commission opens Lyon County May 1, 2021

April 14, 2021 The Board of County Commissioners held a special meeting to address the restore Lyon County Plan effective May 1, 2021. Lyon County had submitted a draft plan to the Nevada COVID Task Force outlining the plan to open Lyon County up within the guidelines of the States Emergency Directives. April 13, 2021 the Governor announced:

"Statewide directives that will remain in place to mitigate the spread will include the statewide mask requirement. As of May 1, 2021, the State Emergency Directives will no longer include social distancing requirements, and counties/school districts will have the authority to include social distancing measures within their mitigation plans. State health officials continue to recommend that Nevadans practice social distancing in accordance with the latest federal guidance."

The Board of Commissioners approved the plan that removes limitations to large, indoor or outdoor, gatherings, opened businesses up to 100% occupancy and authorizes that brothels can open May 1, 2021. The approved plan was forwarded and presented to the COVID Task Force at 10:00 AM today. The action of the County Commission clears the path for activities such as High School graduations, A Night in the Country and eliminates the need for local government approval of COVID plans for events.
