[ARCHIVED] County Commission asked to rescind direction on escort services

March 4, 2021 The Lyon County Board of Commissioners will be asked to rescind their action on January 18, 2021 to include non sexual escort services as part of Lyon County's Brothel Code. Commissioner Ken Gray requested this item after he had contact with a representative of the Brothels requesting that no further action be taken on this. At the January 18, 2021 meeting District Attorney Steve Rye expressed concerns of addressing a short term issue with a long term solution.

The proposed amendment would have allowed non-sexual escort services in unincorporated Lyon County only. If services were provided out side of that area then the concern is whether its legal or not. A number of counties and cities expressly prohibit escort services. County Manager Jeff Page explained that he was contacted by Commissioner Gray on the 19th of January with the request. The County stopped moving forward on the item and notified the Commissioners of the request.
