Since the passage of Resolution 21-03 Lyon County officials have been inundated with questions and concerns. The passage of this resolution does not authorize businesses or private citizens to cease following emergency directives or CDC recommended practices in reference to COVID-19.

The Lyon County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution 21-03.  The Resolution declares that the County is in an Economic Emergency due to the restrictions put in place by the Governor in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Resolution was adopted to notify the State of Nevada that Lyon County stands firmly for the rights of individuals and businesses within Lyon County and notifies the State that individuals and citizens know better how to protect themselves, their families, customers and employees than following a cookie cutter approach.

The State’s one size fits all Covid-19 restrictions are ineffective and overly burdensome to the residents and businesses in rural counties.  The Covid-19 restrictions currently in place may make sense in the more densely populated areas of the state.  In adopting this Resolution, the Lyon County Board of County Commissioners unanimously spoke against the state’s current statewide restriction policies.

Lyon County recognizes the legal authority of the state in regulating businesses and enforcing reasonable safety standards The Board of County Commissioners encourages the state to work more cooperatively with the county in developing the local response to Covid-19 within Lyon County.

The passage of the resolution encourages citizens and businesses to comply with the emergency directives. The resolution does not authorize the opening of brothels nor does it add additional requirements for citizens or businesses.
