[ARCHIVED] COUNTY MANAGER - SEASONS GREETINGS

Lyon County Manager Jeff Page took a few moments to wish all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in a letter to the citizens, employees, media and stakeholders

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 2020 has been a year of challenges and opportunities. I wish to express my gratitude to Lyon County citizens, businesses, media, state agencies, healthcare workers, public safety agencies, neighboring counties and our elected leaders. Throughout the year we have experienced COVID, contentious election, civil unrest and personal tragedies. Through all of this we have witnessed people helping people, employees going above and beyond their responsibilities, elected officials making difficult and sometimes unpopular decisions, The Quad County region eliminating political boundaries and working together, people and organizations following the civil process to ensure their constitutional rights were not infringed upon, teachers and students working to ensure the best education under the circumstances, public safety personnel providing top notch service in trying times, health care working under enormous stress to provide the highest quality of service, local/regional media being diligent to provide up-to-date correct information and people of faith reaching out to help people regardless of differences.

I write of these positives as I see so much negative on social media. I ask that we all try to look for the positives during this holiday season. I drive around the County and I am so happy to see all the holiday decorations that people have put out. I am a life time resident of this great County and I am always impressed with how we pull together in difficult times. I am proud of the men and women that work for Lyon County, Fire Protection Districts, School District, the Cities of Fernley and Yerington and our special districts. Through this past year each of these people have worked hard to provide services under difficult times. I understand the difficulty of balancing work and home life in this pandemic and I am so proud of these people.

In closing I wish you all a Happy Holiday and thank you all for your support and help.

Jeff Page
