All Civil Hearings will begin at 2:00 pm every Tuesday.  This includes Small Claims, Civil Justice Actions, Protective Order Hearings and Evictions.

Our NEW Hours will be:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
We will accept payments up to 4:30 pm everyday.

Traffic Court will be moved to Thursdays at 9:00 am

This Court handles Misdemeanors, Traffic Citations, Civil (up to $10,000.00), Small Claims (up to $7,500.00), Evictions and Temporary Protective Orders. Other levels such as Gross Misdemeanors, Felony’s, Divorce and Child Custody are handled in the Third Judicial District Court in Yerington.

There are six different Courts within Lyon County.  The jurisdiction of Dayton Justice Court is limited. You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions. Please note, we are restricted in regards to offering any type of legal advise. The Justice of the Peace at the Dayton Township Justice Court is Camille Vecchiarelli. Her friendly and knowledgeable court clerks include Vicki, Angelica, Tammy, and the Bailiff, Cleve. Allison, the Court Services Officer who works with all Lyon County Courts, is also available on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Dayton.

All courts have different schedules as to when legal matters are heard. Dayton Justice Court has made available a schedule for your convenience.

Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Tuesday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM then Traffic Court business only 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Friday 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM 
Payments are not accepted after 4:30 PM Monday - Thursday (with an exception for Traffic Court) or after 2:00 PM on Friday
